option for employees participating in the U.S. government’s federal
Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) may be available as early as May 7, 2012. The
Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board issued regulations in
February of 2012, enabling plans to offer this option, making these
plans similar to 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) deferral-type defined
contribution plans.
